T.O. is a Saint!

Recently, a bunch of sports writers and bloggers came down on T.O. for not showing up for voluntary offseason conditioning with the Bills. Turns out the reason why he was gone was because he was accepting an award in Washington, D.C., attending the sixth annual National Alzheimer’s Gala. He’ll receive the Alzheimer’s Association’s first Young Champions Award on Wednesday night for raising awareness in the fight against the disease. Owens’ grandmother has Alzheimer’s.

I’m really tired of people lambasting, that’s right, I said lambasting, T.O. without researching anything that might absolve him of wrongdoing. The guy has been helping Alzheimer’s research for years, and nobody seems to care.

Also, the Bill’s strength and conditioning coach talked with T.O. about his workouts and they are on the same page. He said T.O. is one of the most fit guys in the league, and doesn’t even need to attend the workouts.

So learn the damn facts sports writers! T.O. is a goddamn saint!

G.I. Joe: The Movie, starring the Dallas Cowboys

After reading Ed Werder’s brilliant column about the Cowboy’s dysfunctionality, I figured Hollywood would be interested in making a movie out of it. Then, after hearing the terrible buzz surrounding the new G.I. Joe movie, I figured they could cast some high profile Cowboys into the film. Not only would this save the producers a lot of money, but it would also help the Cowboys act out some of their feelings in a constructive manner.  This is my personal opinion on who should play which character, but really it is all up to the casting director. Without further ado, bear witness to my shitty Photoshop skills…

“Boys Will Be Boys” Review

Boys Will Be Boys is a very interesting look at the Cowboys who won three Super Bowls in the early ’90s, despite their complete lack of discipline and self restraint. Pearlman wisely follows the stories of Charles Haley and Michael Irvin, showing how being dysfunctional in life doesn’t necessarily translate into dysfunctionality on the field. The Cowboys played with a kind of bravado that only America’s Team could play with, and they won a hell of a lot of games.

The best thing about this book are the insane stories about the Cowboys. There is the story of Michael Irvin stabbing a teammate with a pair of barber scissors. Another story is about a few teammates buying a house in a suburban neighborhood called the “White House”, used to do drugs and have sex with women. The stories go on and on, and they are always interesting.

Pearlman did a great job researching this book, and doesn’t let anyone off the hook. He goes into great detail on Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson’s good and bad sides. He doesn’t pull any punches but also doesn’t take any cheap shots, unlike the despicable journalist known as Skip Bayless.

I highly recommend reading this book if you are a football fan. It shows how a team can still compete while having a myriad of problems. The entire book is fascinating and draws a surprising amount of parallels with the Cowboys of 2008.

Bachelor Workout and Diet that works! Go figure…


So, I bought Terrell Owens fitness book about a month ago, because he is my favorite athlete and I like supporting him, no matter what craziness he gets into throughout his life. I must say that the book doesn’t reveal anything too new or earthshattering, but it does present an easy to follow guide that helps you mold your workout and diet routine into something that actually works.

In my case, my laziness is what was detrimental to my health. I work 8 hours a day in an office, and do little to no physical activity in that time. When I get home, the last thing I want to do is workout, let alone eat right. After realizing that this pattern of idiocy will continue to turn me into a blob of fat, I decided to try out T.O.’s diet recommendations. Instead of having a bagel with cream cheese in the morning, I have cereal and a small glass of milk. I’ll have an apple or granola bar around 10 or 10:30, so I’m not starving by lunch time. I usually eat a large lunch, which is something I still need to work on. At around 3pm, I have another snack, which is either a piece of fruit, yogurt or a granola bar.

At dinner, I usually steam a chicken breast and broccoli, and have some Sun Chips or Baked Lays, some grapes or a banana, and possibly a yogurt if I’m still hungry. After I go to the gym, I either have a piece of fruit, a granola bar, popcorn, or a yogurt. All of this depends on what I ate earlier in the day. I rotate it out so it doesn’t get too monotonous. I usually switch up the Chicken for dinner with a whole wheat turkey sandwich.

I’ve been doing this for two weeks, and it has definitely helped with my energy level. I can feel my metabolism kicking in, which will lead to eventual weight loss down the road. I’m not that worried about losing weight right away, because I know it’ll take a few months before I notice a change.

Last week I went to the gym for about an hour and a half, Monday-Friday. I usually lift for a half hour, and then spend an hour doing aerobic exercise. The gym is insanely crowded from 4-8pm, so I leave my place about 8 and finish about 10pm. It sucks, because I’d much rather go right after work. This week I skipped Monday, because I was lazy, but have gone on Tuesday and Wednesday, and plan on going the rest of the week and once this weekend.

T.O.’s Finding Fitness preaches consistent eating, where you have three small meals and three snacks throughout the day. You should be eating every few hours if it works out right. I do this, but tend to eat a little more during lunch and dinner. I’m also 6’3″ and 240lbs, so I am not what you’d call, “Average Size”.

That’s my workout and diet for the next few months, and I’m going to see how I like it. I’m already eating less fast food and the energy I get from working out is great. I can put on muscle quickly, so I already notice my body turning from mush into muscle (to quote Det. John Kimble). Now all I need to do is get rid of my 9 to 5 gut and I’ll be good to go.

Old NFL Ad

Thanks to Deadspin and Kissing Suzy Kolber for this Youtube clip of an old NFL ad. Not only does it feature the taboo of smoking on television, but also a politically incorrect indian (or is that Native American?). Either way, the promo clip is hilarious.

Get Your Popcorn Ready! Dallas: 37, Green Bay: 27

T.O. and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers convincingly, 37 to 27. As was expected, Dallas showed off their offensive skills as Romo completed 19 of 30 passes for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. His only intercept was caused by his best receiver, Terrell Owens, who let the ball slip out of his hands in the endzone. Although that play was rough, he still had an amazing game, scoring one touchdown and catching 7 passes for 156 yards. It was their best win of the season, and solidifies Dallas as the number one team in the NFC.
