UFC 100: Brock Lesnar Vs. Frank Mir

BrockLesnar

Brock Lesnar will be going up in a rematch with Frank Mir on Saturday, July 11th, for the title fight of UFC 100. This is the most anticipated fight of the year, and I can’t wait to see who wins. I’ve been following Brock’s career since he joined the WWF, even though I don’t even like wrestling. The guy has always intrigued me, because of his size and overall physical stature. Once he joined the MMA, I got even more interested in it. frankmir

Frank Mir is a great opponent for Brock, because he is a more technical fighter who specializes in submission moves. He is very well versed in different take downs, and has the intellectual advantage in this match. He also beat Brock last year in Brock’s first UFC fight. Brock was murdering him before he got caught in a knee bar and had to tap out.
I want and I think Lesnar will win. He has the strength advantage and is a better fighter than when they fought last. Don’t count Mir out though, because this guy is a crafty fighter.  No matter who wins, the fight’ll be entertaining.

Tiger Woods takes lead at Quail Hollow

(Tiger Woods doing his best Tin Man impression, muttering under his breath “Oil Can”. Looks like his knee is a little stiff.)

After playing a Pro-Am with Peyton Manning on Wednesday, Tiger took a commanding three shot lead during the first round at Quail Hollow, shooting 7 under on the day. It looks like the Tiger of old is back, at least for a day.

Terrell Owens released by Cowboys

APTOPIX Giants Cowboys Football

Terrell Owens has been released by the Dallas Cowboys.  One of the greatest receivers of all time was released after getting over 10 TDs and 1000 yards in a lackluster season for the Cowboys.

I sorta get it. The media bugs every team that T.O. plays for, to the point where it makes everybody want to separate themselves from him at all costs. Some of this is his fault, and some is the media’s. Obviously he brings it on himself, because he speaks his mind and is passionate about how he is incorporated into the offense. The media knows this, and pokes and prods him until he says something controversial. The guy can’t shut his mouth, and it hurts him.

I still think he has at least 2 or 3 good years left. The way he conditions himself makes it seem like he’s younger than he actually is. I can see a team like the Raiders pick him up, but he wants to win a Super Bowl. The Cowboys were his best bet at that and they couldn’t get it done.

It should be interesting to see what happens from here on out. I assume at least a few teams will want him, but you never know. The guy is already a hall of famer, or infamer. It’s a sad day in NFL history…just sad.

Stupid Tim Clark

If there’s one thing I learned from Lethal Weapon 2, it’s don’t trust South Africans. Stupid Tim Clark and his stupid great golf playing means the great (read: rusty) Tiger Woods won’t get to see round three of the Accenture Match Play Tournament. This also means that millions upon trillions of people won’t get to watch him play this weekend. Here’s a quick rundown of what happens using pictures from the tournament:

Tiger says, “WTF, man? I hate South Africans more than Mel Gibson hates Jews and South Africans!”

Meanwhile Tim Clark and his flamboyant self says with a lisp, “Tiger, the green’s this way thsilly pantths. Let’s win this one for Zimbabwe boyths!”

And the golf course just says this: “Fuck you Tiger!” You know when the cacti are flipping you off you’re having a bad day…

And there you have it, the rundown of the second round of the Accenture Match Play Tournament. Was it good for you?

Tiger’s Back!

I was talking with my friend Andy the other day on who our favorite golfers are. I stupidly said that J.B. Holmes is my favorite, Webb Simpson is my second, and Tiger is my third. The next day I said that saying Webb Simpson was my second favorite was stupid, and moved Tiger into the second spot. But why the hell do I like J.B. Holmes the most!?

Buick Invitational Golf

J.B. has won only two tournaments, both being the FBR Open. He was on the Ryder Cup team that won last year, which was very entertaining. He misses cuts every few tournaments and only makes a mil or two a year in earnings. The guy is good, but shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as Tiger.

Tiger has won slightly more.

I guess I’m a freaking idiot because I like rooting for the underdog. Saying Tiger is your favorite player is so lame, because he’s everybody’s favorite player. In saying that, I can’t help but say that Tiger is by far the most entertaining player to watch. I’ve read at least 10 articles about him in the past two days that all basically say the same thing. He’s so freaking interesting.

The Accenture Match Play Tournament has just started, and I’m listening to it live at work. Who does that!? Tiger’s already one up after the first hole on his latest victim, and just got an eagle on two, so he is three up through two holes. It’s over!

I guess the point of this post is to say that Tiger is far and away the most exciting player in golf. In saying that, I still hate following the beaten path and will not place him as my favorite golfer. I’ll keep J.B. Holmes up there, just because. Plus, J.B. pulls hotter chicks…

e-trade Super Bowl outtakes

After watching the Super Bowl, I feel inclined to mention that the best part was watching the e-trade baby call his golfing partner “Shankopotomous”. Although the game was good, the commercials were lacking. Sure, the e-trade baby was funny in his two commercials, as were a few others, but for the most part they were pretty terrible.  I wanted to share a youtube clip I found of outtakes from the baby preparing for another commercial.

This just goes to show you how creative thinking can make an ad campaign flourish. You know some 22 year old junior copywriter came up with the funniest lines in this campaign.
